After exploring Downtown Saint Petersburg for the first time, I was eager for my second jaunt to the city! This time my friend and I had a day full of vintage feels, delectable bites from local cafés, browsing summertime fashion for men and women, and even stopped into a local brewery.
Do you love anything vintage? Come on, who doesn’t?! It’s time for you to check out ARTpool Gallery. It’s massive and has everything from men & women’s fashion, knickknacks, an art gallery, and even a deliciously healthy café. The café is surrounded with retro findings and you sit at tables that make you feel like a Jetson. A quick peek into the boutique’s window you’ll spot flapper dresses, boas, groovy pants, platform shoes, and Franklin – the owners’ dog. Bravo to Marina, the owner, who is not only adorkable, but also seems to be a mastermind when it comes to business.
An Uber ride away is Paper Street Market: “Antiques for a New Generation.” Walking into this space took my breath away. There were antique furnishings just like that piece you’ve been searching for! You know, real wood with ornate carvings in bold colors. And you’ll even find the accent chair that will complete any room. Feeling creative? Choose from their collection of letters you can light up or just hang on the wall. Your company’s name, your initials, a quirky message… you choose what to spell out, but choose wisely because the collection of letters has a font and color for every mood.
Perhaps vintage and antiques isn’t your thing. How about a boutique ran by the sweetest gal? Stop in to visit Ashe Couture Boutique for all of your summer fashions. The owner, Amanda, sparkles as bright as her pink dress and the fashion she carries in her store is flawless for the season: bright colors, lightweight fabrics, and patterns that will make a statement at any occasion. Of course I’m a sucker for rare jewelry with colorful stones, and this was the place to find the perfect earrings for me (at a price you couldn’t beat!). Thumbs up to Amanda for carrying Pura Vida bracelets; ever bracelet sold helps provide fulltime jobs for local artisans in Costa Rica! (I just so happened to be wearing my bracelets for Alzheimer’s Awareness and Marine Debris Solutions.)
Looking for menswear? I found your store! McB’s is the #1 Consignment Shop in Tampa Bay. With plenty of shoes, clothing, hats, and accessories – this store has a handsome assortment of high-end fashion to keep you stylish without breaking the bank.
Browsing is exhausting, the rain was tumbling down, and I was ready for a brew. I had never been to a brewery before, so my friend showed me one of the local breweries: 3 Daughters. The Washington Post said it best, “This place is craft beer heaven.” Seeing where they brew the beer was exciting and I could have watched the beers being canned for hours. An assembly line that stacked everything so neatly at the end, my OCD was quite happy with the process. There was also a bar where you could enjoy the beer. We had a sampler of four and my favorite was the Rod Bender Red Ale. Delicious! Yes, the beer was great, the brewing process was inspiring, it was family-friendly, but they also had games, which made me feel like we were at a backyard barbeque. You could play anything and everything from foosball and chess to jumbo Jenga, table shuffleboard, checkers and even giant Connect-4. There is no doubt that I’ll be back here to support 3 Daughters Brewing and pick up a growler so I can take some beer home with me!
A day in Downtown Saint Petersburg is not complete without a visit to Mickey’s Café and Organics. With a sizeable selection of juices, smoothies, wraps, salads, and sweets (he even has macaroons!), you’ll be so pleased you stepped into this organic sanctuary. Try to say hello to Mickey because he’s “sweet like a lemon” and his Greek personality is beyond welcoming!
My Friday afternoon exploring this city had quickly come to an end and it was time for little Erika to get back to Sarasota. With every visit, I’m honestly growing fonder and fonder of this place. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love Downtown St. Pete. I really do! Continue to read my blogs to see how else you can spend your time here. As always, I’m ready for more adventures in Downtown Saint Petersburg. Aren’t you?
