We never thought we’d say this but: We wish it were still Tuesday. Yesterday we celebrated Fat Tuesday with our 5th Annual Crawfish Boil. Our brewers, Ty, Steve, and Chris used to be chefs (they still cook plenty) so they were in charge of the boil and they did an awesome job. They were serving to a sold out crowd but with plenty of experience underneath their belts they didn’t break a sweat. Except for Chris, he’s always sweating. Last year we smoked a whole gator and this year we did the same. Our brewer Captain Steve was in charge of that and it came out perfectly cooked with just the right amount of smoke. We paired this with our Phantasmas Spicy Double IPA which we brew with a ton of jalapeños to give it a NOLA kick. The Cidery had brewed up a…

Eric Pera- St. Petersburg’s 3 Daughters Brewing takes the bold flavor of coffee to a different place with A Wake Coffee Blonde Ale, a bracing quaff that runs counter to the herd of dark, java-laced stouts and porters. The beer is clean and sharply crisp, with a punch of coffee that’s more in the realm of a blonde roast. A Wake finishes slightly acidic and bitter, with a touch of sweet, biscuit malt. Sharp carbonation is both cleansing and refreshing. A Wake Coffee Blonde is 5.5 percent alcohol by volume and pours slightly hazy and golden. Full article here.

The start of our florida grown hops

So, as you all know we’ve been involved with the University of Florida and Hillsborough County’s Economic Development team working on a project that will change our state and the future of craft beer: Florida-Grown Hops. We received these new hops from Richard Smith, the owner of Florida Hops. He was our contact for the hops plants. Here is an article and photo of him and Ricky Burts whom also has visited our facility to do the hops harvest demo: Intersection: Orange County’s First Commercial Hop Yard Our Head Brewer Ty and our Resident Mad Scientist Desiree have constructed a little “hop tree” in between our two warehouses where the hops can (hopefully) grow quite tall. We’re unsure of the harvest time as this is our first time trying to grow hops but we’ll keep y’all posted.

Good news: The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club has finished renovating the Vinoy Tower and its 102 guest rooms, phase two of that $50 million redevelopment project you’ve likely heard about. Which means Paul’s Landing, the historic downtown property’s new marina-front, Florida-inspired restaurant, isn’t too far behind, yes? You got it. And if the Tower’s revamped look is any indication — it’s Art Deco-ed out; whimsical, with a coastal edge — locals should be pleased with where Paul’s is headed. Since the restaurant is the redevelopment’s next undertaking, CL wanted to do a little refresher on Paul’s — which broke ground in March and shares a name with the signature Vinoy-3 Daughters Brewing collaboration beer — coupled with the latest updates from a super-early media preview of the Tower on Wednesday. Here’s one of our semi-regular roundups on the five things…

In 2004, Delaware’s Dogfish Head Brewery was well into the process of making a name for itself through envelope-pushing beers, like 120-Minute IPA and World Wide Stout, brews notorious for their astronomical alcohol content. Then came something even more unusual: Liquor de Malt, an American adjunct malt liquor made with gourmet corn and packaged in 40-ounce bottles inside a hand-stamped paper bag. Unfortunately, Florida never received any of this beer, most likely because the 40-ounce package size is not allowed. But now, 13 years later, we have a local craft malt liquor of our own: 3 Daughters Brewing Ctrl + Malt + Del. While “malt liquor” simply refers to any stronger-than-average lager, the term is forever linked to low-end brews sold in oversized clear bottles in gas station coolers across the country. And look, let’s not pretend that we’ve never enjoyed a cool, 32-ounce…

We are very proud to announce that 3 Daughters Brewing was selected out of 18 national finalists by the U.S. Chamber as one of their Small Business Award Winners. We received the Emerging Business Achievement Award. We were the only company from Florida to be nominated and were thrilled to be chosen. Unfortunately, we were not able to go to Washington to accept the award (sorry no pictures) as hurricane Irma was moving through Florida. However, we were able to help some friends in the community by opening the brewery as a shelter of sorts and had 55 people, 12 dogs and 6 cats as we weathered the storm. There definitely wasn’t a dull moment. It was a privilege to be able to assist during the hurricane but were sorry to miss the small business summit and award ceremony. Since we didn’t get to…

While acknowledging that Florida is behind the more established craft beer markets, it hasn’t stopped Leigh Harting from making sure that 3 Daughters Brewing isn’t behind when it comes to putting out quality craft brews. The quality and consistency of the product, she says of the St. Petersburg, Florida-based facility, is the money that the brewery made sure to invest into a high-quality lab from the start. Not content to just have a great lab and staff in the building, Harting — who is co-owner of 3 Daughters since opening in late 2013 with her husband Mike — made sure the lab is a part of the consumer experience in the brewery’s facility, located right next to the tasting room. “We knew as we came in we wanted to be transparent,” Harting said. “I want [consumers] to like our beer now, three years and…
